  1. According to vimeo.com, ambient video categorizes non-disruptive art videos consisting of “fluid-still imagery.” Video paintings are a form of ambient video art presented through television screens or other mounted projector-like devices, similar to they way traditional artwork is displayed. These video paintings are not accompanied by sound and can be utilized as either a passive background work of art or the focal point of a room.
I, although I am only basing this opinion on the three above videos, can not say that I am a fan of this art form. I enjoyed the “Ghost of the Fog” most, but I didn’t love it. I found the YouTube videos to be rather boring and I didn’t like the first one at all. Regardless of whether I enjoyed them, I do not think I can refute the validity of this style as an art form. I think this genre, if you will, of art is unique, creative, and quite legitimate, breaking the standards of traditional art like new art media, although it did not necessarily fall under my taste.

  2. A video painting is displayed on a flat panel T.V. mounted to the wall, similar to how a normal painting is presented, but on a T.V. There is no sound and the picture will usually change slightly, but nothing too dramatic that takes away from the original picture. I would consider this art because I think more people would pay more attention and appreciate art a bit more, due to the fact that in modern times, T.V. is an important form of entertainment.

  3. A video painting is a flat-screen video that has no sound and is often mounted to the wall much like an actual painting. I do think this is a legitimate art form because it serves the same purpose as regular art to intrigue and make you think. I also think it makes art more interesting for the modern age of technology. I really like the video painting but i didnt really like the other kinds of ambient art I watched.

  4. A video painting is a form of ambient video which is presented on a flat panel display. These displays range from projectors to LCD screens. They are usually mounted on a wall to add the effect of an actual painting. I find this form of art entertaining because it fits itself into modern times. Video paintings have taken old paintings and made them better through technology.

  5. A Video Painting is a form of an ambient video that is presented thru flatscreen technologies such as LCD, projectors, plasma, and DLP. Just like any other traditional painting, video paintings hang on walls to be viewed and passed over. Also there is no sound involved in these videos. I think this is a very interesting art form because it is very modern to the New Art Media category.

  6. A video painting is a video that has no sound and is mounted on a wall, similar to most paintings. I think it is real form of art. Video art opens up many oppurtunities through creativity and imagination. It is a very interesting form of art, and helps open up new types of art and helps art and technology mix. I preferred the video painting but found the other types of ambient art a little boring.

  7. A video painting is a form of video art that is presented with projectors or televisions on a wall, like any painting. Video Paintings are a little different than ambient video, but ambient video includes several relaxing photos on a slide-show with music. This seems like a legitimate art form to me, because it is just like any other painting, only presented onto a projector or TV. I like this form of art, it is very interesting.

  8. i like video painting mostly because moving objects stand out from the objects that are not. i think video painting is a great art form because it can be hung and observed as a real painting but parts of it are still slightly moving. i also like how it is displayed on any flat screen type of TV, adding the picture-like feel to the video painting. overall i think it is a very good form of art.

  9. Video painting and ambient art is the essence of New Art Media. It is a modernized form of artwork that is virtually paperless. I think video painting, if promoted and advertised correctly, could become very popular. What I like most about it is the fact that it uses technology and natural photography but in a digital sense. Pretty cool.

  10. I think video painting and ambient art are both examples of modernized form of artwork. The unique thing about video painting is that it uses technology and natural photography. I wasnt really blown away by the ambient video though.

  11. Video painting is a form of ambient video in which panel displays are presented. These displays can come from projectors to LCD screens. They are usually presented on walls, this can create various effect of color and shape depending on the brightness and contrast of the displays. I really like this from of art because it is a modern way to do art and will be a form of art used also for the future as the technology gets more efficient.

  12. Video painting and ambient art is when art is displayed virtually. This new genre of art is modern and very unique. The use of both natural photography and technology incorporated in one type of art is very interesting and could become very popular in the future.

  13. Video painting and ambient video are rapidly growing genres of art in which the images change over time. It is usually shown on large TV’s for displays. I highly respect this form of art, although I unfortunately do not like it. I found the “Ghost of Fog” and “Cardiff Bay” the most interesting. As technology expands, this form of art is sure to do the same.
